The company behind Trades.Agency, explained plainly

Where we work

Trades marketing in British Columbia

British Columbia is our home province: Trades.Agency is headquartered in Vancouver. BC trades marketing means planning for very different climates, dense urban competition on the coast, and rebate programs that changed in July 2026.

British Columbia is where Trades.Agency is based, and where much of our HVAC work was done. For a trades company here, the marketing plan depends heavily on where in the province you work: Metro Vancouver is crowded and expensive to advertise in, the Okanagan has its own seasonal rhythm, and the North is about covering big distances with a small number of competitors. We market and advise BC trades companies; we never do the trade work ourselves.

The BC trades market

BC trades demand clusters in the southwest. Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, Abbotsford and Coquitlam are among the province's largest municipalities, with Kelowna and Saanich close behind. That concentration means many competitors bidding on the same searches in a small geographic area, which pushes up click costs and makes map visibility in specific neighbourhoods worth fighting for.

Housing stock varies widely: older detached homes, townhouse complexes run by strata councils, and a large and growing share of condos. Each has a different buyer. A strata manager approving a building-wide plumbing job behaves nothing like a homeowner with a burst pipe at 10 p.m. Good BC marketing usually separates these audiences with different pages and campaigns.

Our HVAC work is rooted here. GasBoilers.ca, a gas-boiler division built for CANRO Heat, serves 26+ BC communities, and BCWide.ca reached 3× leads in 90 days. These are results from our HVAC work, and they show how the method plays out in BC conditions.

Climate and the BC calendar

The province has several climates at once. The southwest coast has mild, wet winters, while the Interior and North have much colder, longer heating seasons. For trades that means:

  • Coastal roofers and drainage companies see demand rise with the autumn rains.
  • Heating trades in the Interior and North face a longer, sharper winter peak than those in Vancouver or Victoria.
  • Landscaping and exterior work starts earlier on the coast than in Prince George.

Heating fuel splits fairly evenly too: Statistics Canada counted gas as the main heat in 42% of BC homes in 2023 and electricity in 36%. That mix matters for HVAC, gas fitting and electrical companies deciding which services to promote.

Programs that move demand (as of October 2026)

Energy programs shape demand for heating, electrical and insulation trades in BC. As of October 2026:

  • Income-qualified homeowners can get help with heat pumps and envelope work through the CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program. Its rules changed for invoices dated on or after 6 July 2026, with some rebates removed and eligibility narrowed.
  • BC delivery of the federal Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program, announced on 29 June 2026, runs through BC Hydro and FortisBC and offers no-cost upgrades to lower-income households (NRCan backgrounder).

Programs change often. Before you mention any rebate in an ad, confirm current terms with the administrator, and date the claim on your website.

How we'd market a BC trades company

For a Lower Mainland company, we usually start narrow: three to five priority municipalities, service pages for the highest-value jobs, and a Google profile built for the exact service area. Paid search budgets are paced carefully because click costs run high. For Interior and Northern companies, the plan leans toward owning map results across a wider area and building reviews, since fewer competitors means each review carries more weight.

In every case, the services we recommend depend on your numbers. See the areas overview for other provinces, or the contact page to talk about your BC market.

Frequently asked questions

Do you meet BC clients in person?

Yes. BC owners can sit down with us in person or meet by video call, and phone, text and email work too. Being Vancouver-based helps us understand the Lower Mainland market, but the process is the same across the province.

Should my website show my Technical Safety BC licence?

If your trade is licensed by Technical Safety BC, showing your licence clearly builds trust with customers who check. Confirm with Technical Safety BC what applies to your trade and how it should be displayed.

Are CleanBC heat pump rebates still available?

As of October 2026 the CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program is open, but its rules changed for invoices dated on or after 6 July 2026. Check betterhomesbc.ca for current eligibility before advertising any rebate.
