Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

These are the questions trades owners ask us most often before they sign anything. If yours isn't here, call, text or email and ask it directly.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

These answers are written for the owner who wants the short version before a first call. They cover price, contracts, timelines, ownership and the hard question of why this time would go differently from the last agency. The questions above are the quick answers; the sections below add the detail that doesn't fit in two sentences.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Trades.Agency?

Trades.Agency is a Canadian marketing and business consulting firm for trades and home-service companies. It's a brand of Sedighi.ca, part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group, headquartered in Vancouver and led by Ali Sedighi, MBA.

Are you a contractor?

No. We don't install, repair or service anything, and we don't subcontract trade work. We help trades companies with marketing and business decisions.

How much does it cost?

Growth is $1,999 a month, Elite $3,999 and Enterprise $7,999, or $1,499, $2,999 and $5,999 a month on annual billing. Canadian clients add GST/HST for their province, and ad spend is separate.

Is there a contract?

Plans are month to month with no long-term contract. You can cancel with 30 days' notice. Annual billing is optional and lowers the monthly price.

How long before we see results?

Paid ads can produce calls within days. Profile fixes often show within weeks. Organic search in a competitive city usually takes several months. We'll tell you which timeline applies to your situation.

We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?

Usually the earlier agency judged success on clicks or rankings rather than booked jobs, or kept the accounts in its own name. We report on cost per booked job, set everything up in your name, and let you leave with 30 days' notice.

Who owns the website, profiles and ad accounts?

Your company does. Domains, hosting, Google Business Profile, ad accounts, analytics and tracking numbers are registered to your business, and we're added as managers.

What do the monthly reports show?

Calls, texts and quote requests by source, booked jobs where you share that data, cost per booked job, and what we'll change next month. We keep it to a page or two in plain language.

Can you promise rankings or leads?

No. Nobody controls Google's results or your customers' choices, and promises like that are a warning sign. We commit to the agreed work, accurate tracking and honest reporting.

Which trades do you work with?

Home-service trades such as plumbers, electricians, HVAC contractors, roofers, general contractors, painters, handyman services and landscapers; specialised trades such as carpentry, welding, masonry and concrete, excavation and tile; and higher-risk trades such as asbestos removal, industrial cleaning, scaffolding and fire protection.

Do you work outside British Columbia?

Yes. We work with companies in every province and territory, consulting by video call or in person as well as by phone, text and email.

Can you help with French-language marketing in Quebec?

Quebec has specific language rules for advertising and websites, and we plan campaigns with them in mind. For the legal side, check the OQLF's guidance or a Quebec lawyer.

Do you sell shared leads?

No. We don't sell leads, and we don't send the same homeowner to several contractors. The calls you get come to your company from marketing you own.

About price and contracts

The plan prices on our pricing page are the same ones published on trades.agency/pricing. Ad spend goes straight from your account to the platform, so you can see every dollar of it. If you prefer a lower monthly price, annual billing gives it to you; if you prefer flexibility, the month-to-month plan lets you leave with 30 days' notice.

Before signing anything with any agency, ask three questions: who owns the accounts, how do I cancel, and what number will you be judged on. If the answers are vague, keep looking.

About ownership and leaving

We set up every asset in your company's name because we've seen what happens otherwise. Owners lose years of reviews when a profile was registered to an agency's email, or lose ad history when the account belonged to the agency. If you're in that position now, Trade.Repair focuses on recovering accounts and websites from past agencies.

If you leave us, the handover checklist is simple: we remove our access, give you any logins you don't already hold, and document what's running so the next person can pick it up.

About results and reporting

We don't promise results; we promise to measure them honestly. Every engagement starts by agreeing on one or two headline numbers, usually booked jobs and cost per booked job. Reports show those first. Our published results are from our HVAC work and are explained on the results page.

A useful check you can do yourself: ask any agency for last month's cost per booked job. If they can't produce it, they aren't tracking what matters.

About the trades and places we cover

The trade list in the answers above comes from Trades.Agency's own industry pages. For a deeper look at how marketing changes trade by trade, Trades.Marketing covers it one trade at a time. Our areas page explains what changes across Canada's provinces and territories, from regulators to seasons to language.

About timelines, in more detail

Owners often ask for one number: how long until it works. The honest answer depends on which kind of work you're buying.

  • Fixes to a broken Google profile, missing tracking or a website that hides the phone number can show up in the first month.
  • Paid advertising produces calls in days, but takes a couple of months of tuning to reach a stable cost per booked job.
  • Organic search and reviews build over quarters, not weeks. In our HVAC work, Roma Heating & Cooling saw its 400% organic traffic growth over 12 months.

If you need work this month and next year, the usual answer is both: ads for now, organic work for later.

How we work with you

We work with companies from Victoria to St. John's, and owners sometimes worry that distance means less attention. In practice, most of the work happens in accounts and data. Trades owners can consult with us by video call or in person, as well as by phone, text and email. What we need from you is a monthly conversation, quick answers to texts, and real job photos from your crews. Get in touch to set up the first one.

About what we need from you

Marketing works better with a little of your time. Expect us to ask for job photos, licence details, typical price ranges and, ideally, which calls became booked jobs. Owners who share booking data get far sharper reports, because we can then tell you cost per booked job rather than cost per call.

Still have a question?

Ask it. The contact page explains how to reach us and what to include, and the about page explains who you'll be talking to.
